Report: Aston Martin collaborating with Mercedes-Benz on SUV, to get brand’s own 6.0L V12 plus some

Aston Martin’s rumored then confirmed SUV has been in the works for quite some time now. And to provide an update, some reports are out with new details surrounding this anticipated SUV.

So far, we know that it’ll be based around the Lagonda concept. Aston’s 6.0L V12 is expected to be the standard powerplant, while the rest of the SUV is based on the same platform as the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class.

That said, Aston has also reportedly confirmed that they have a collaboration deal on the table with Mercedes-Benz, with the Stuttgart based brand supplying platforms and drivetrains. Additionally, because Mercedes-Benz is also offering their parts bins to Aston, a range of smaller, Mercedes-Benz powered gas, diesel and hybrid models are expected to be in the family as well.

The name of the SUV itself however is something that remains to be determined, as Aston Martin themselves are unsure about calling the new SUV an Aston Martin. Either way, time will tell.
