Mercedes-Benz ups the ante with its CLS Shooting Brake in Europe

Mercedes-Benz’s CLS-Class was revolutionary by design, taking the market by storm with its sexy good looks and traditional Mercedes-Benz performance. Now though, the Silver Arrow has just upped the ante by unveiling a new estate version of the CLS called the CLS Shooting Brake for Europe.

“Any memorable machine is equal parts art and science,” said CEO Dr. Deiter Zetsche, “A car has to first deliver in function – the ticket of entry – and then in fascination: the ticket to real excitement. The CLS Shooting Brake excels on both accounts – unlike any other car in the market”.

And by aesthetics alone, the CLS Shooting Brake is quite the looker. Engines will range from the common gasoline options, a 3.5L V6 good for 300hp and a twin-turbocharged 4.6L V8 for the CLS500. Of course, diesels are in the mix as well with two on tap: a 2.1L four-banger for the CLS250 CDI and a 3.0L V6 diesel for the CLS350 CDI.

All CLS models, except for the four-cylinder model, are available with 4MATC all-wheel drive.

Unfortunately however, the CLS Shooting Brake will not be making it to the US.
