Report: Hyundai considering large luxury crossover

While Hyundai has gotten rid of the Veracruz in favor of an extended wheelbase Santa Fe, the Korean automaker may not be down with the large crossover segment.

Word on the street is that Hyundai is looking at a long wheelbase crossover in the luxury segment but nothing is set in stone yet.

“I would say stay tuned for future details on a potential premium crossover,” John Krafcik, CEO-Hyundai Motor America, told WardsAuto.

Krafcik said that Hyundai is keeping an eye on the segment calling it ‘an intriguing space,’ emphasizing that nothing is final as of right now.

If given the thumbs up, the model will compete with the likes of the Infiniti JX and Audi Q7. Using the Genesis and Equus sedan platform for a crossover could be a possibility.
