Report: Variety of car makers looking to put Siri in cars, Chevrolet to get it first

Apple Siri in Cars

Not too long ago, there were some rumors floating about in both the automobile and electronics news desks that Apple’s popular personal digital assistant, Siri, will soon be integrated into cars.

Now, some new updates have come through and apparently General Motors has announced that the Chevrolet Spark and Sonic will be the first cars ever to incorporate Siri. This announcement came after one of Apple’s Keynote presentations involving Apple’s mobile iOS.

During the presentation, Scott Forstall, Apple’s Senior Vice President of iOS development listed BMW, General Motors, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, Jaguar, Audi, Toyota, Chrysler and Honda as the brands working with Apple to incorporate Siri in automobile.

Apple fanboy or not, sounds like Siri would be a great solution to distracted driving by making nearly all in-car functions controllable by both touch or voice command. Forstall wasn’t specific as to when we could expect to see Siri greet us every time we turn the key, but he did say that we could expect the next full announcement within the next year or so.
