Report: Lexus to produce a more affordable GS hybrid
Lexus’s affordable luxury hybrids, the HS250h and the CT200h, haven’t exactly been stellar sellers. Despite this however, word is that Lexus currently seeks to expand its Lexus GS model range with a new, “more affordable” gasoline-electric hybrid version.
Though details are sparse, an insider apparently revealed that the new “GS-more-affordable-hybrid-version” will ditch the brand’s standardized 3.5L V6, which is what was found in the previous generation’s GS450h hybrid. That said, a four-banger seems to be the most likely supplement.
The new GS hybrid is also predicted to debut in the second half of 2013 as an addition to the GS line, rather than a replacement for the outgoing GS hybrid. So the new 2013 Lexus GS450h will still be with us. And to add, the insiders also supposedly said that the new GS hybrid’s setup will find its way into the next generation IS.
