Report: Lexus drops the HS 250h hybrid sedan

We can’t say we’re not surprised to hear this, but Toyota has confirmed to Inside Line that it will be dropping the slow-selling Lexus HS250h compact hybrid sedan.

“Production of the HS 250h ceased in January, 2012,” Lexus said in an e-mail to the publication. “Lexus continues to monitor sales for each product and we make adjustments to make sure that we meet market demand, and the discontinuation of HS was part of that adjustment. The ES 300h is not replacing HS in our lineup. It’s merely part of the hybridization of many of our existing vehicles in the Toyota and Lexus lineups.”

Lexus HS250h slaes dropped 73 percent last year with a total of 2,864 units sold. In 2010, Lexus sold 10,663 units.
