TUM Mute

BMW has officially confirmed its involvement in a joint research project Visio.M scientists at the Technische Universitaet Muenchen (TUM). The project, which has other cooperation with engineers from the automotive industry, will develop concepts to produce electric cars that are affordable to the masses. In fact, BMW is a lead manage of the project which has a total volume of 10.8 million euros and is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF).

The group will research and develop electric-vehciles but the core of the whole project will be an 882 pound (without a battery) electric-car powered by a 15 kilowatt battery.

The group is currently testing a prototype called MUTE, which was developed by TUM.

Interestingly, one of the companies involved in the project is BMW’s closest German competitor – Daimler AG.
