Toyota starts pricing for special 2013 Tacoma TRD Baja T/X at $32,990

Toyota has released some new packaging for its 2013 Tacoma mid-sized pickup. Called the 2013 Tacoma TRD T/X Baja, the new gussied up Taco—a widely used nickname for the middle run truck—gets its treatment, from you guessed right, Toyota’s TRD performance division.

Inspired by the Toyota’s racing heritage with the world-renowned Baja Series races, the Tacoma TRD Baja T/X features Toyota’s already optional TRD Off-Road Package plus more. Available in both Tacoma Access—the extended two-door cab version with a rear bench—and the Tacoma Double Cab, a larger extended cab but with four-doors, the TRD Baja T/X Taco has been upgraded with beefier Bilstein race shocks that work in tandem with tougher TRD coil springs,

The setup allows for a one-inch increase in suspension travel at the front and 1.5 inches at the rear, and the Taco’s body is also zinc plated to prevent rusting. The shocks were also designed for greater shock oil capacity, which in turn dissipates heat and increases damping sensitivity.

The beefed up Taco also comes with an electronically-controlled locking rear diff, Active Traction Control, Hill-Start Assist, Downhill Assist Control, larger BF Goodrich off-road tires, a TRD cat-back exhaust and more.

Powering the Tacoma T/X Baja Series is Toyota’s traditional 4.0L V6 and can be mated to either a six-speed manual or a five-speed auto. Prices start at just $32,990.
