2013 Mercedes-Benz G63 and G65 AMG unveiled, only G63 AMG coming to U.S.
Earlier this month, Mercedes-Benz dropped the details and pictures for the new 2013 Mercedes-Benz G-Class. However, we were still waiting for some concrete details on the AMG version of the SUV.
The 2013 G-Class will be available as a G63 AMG and a G65 AMG. The 2013 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG is powered by a 5.5 liter V8 biturbo making 563-hp with maximum torque of 560 lb-ft – the G65 carries a massive 6.0 liter V12 biturbo making 603-hp with a peak torque of 737 lb-ft.
The U.S. market will only be getting the G63 AMG, which when mated to a AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7-speed automatic transmission, goes from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph. The new G63 AMG outperforms it’s predecessor, the G55 AMG KOMPRESSOR, by 44 hp and 44 lb-ft of torque.
Sales of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG will start in August 2012. We would love to have the G65 here on the stateside as well but we can just dream for now.
Both models will make their public debuts at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show.
