We’ve been waiting quite some time for a replacement for the very-aged Nissan Titan and Frontier pickups – however, we’ll have to wait a little longer. Nissan has confirmed to CARandDRIVER that the replacement for the Titan and Frontier are still several years away.
While Nissan had hoped to have the new Titan on the market by now – since design and engineering work was already completed on the truck based on Chrysler’s Ram 1500. However, with Chrysler’s bankruptcy and Fiat’s takeover, Nissan was left without a new Titan.
Sources now say that while Nissan engineers were working the new NV van, they were focused on using the platform for the next-generation Titan. But insiders say that the project is still a ‘couple of years’ away.
Nissan’s smaller Frontier pickup will also get a replacement, but the Titan remains top-priority. The next Frontier will be remain a body-on-frame pickup.
