Report: Fiat planning turbo 500T Sport, Abarth 500C for U.S.
For the 2013 model year, Fiat may be planning the addition of a 500T Sport variant, according to documentation filed with the NHTSA and the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
On the chart, the trim levels are listed in categories like Pop, Sport, and Lounge, but positioned between the 500 and the Abarth is a 500T Sport listing separate from the trims.
Paperwork was also filed last month for the motors being used, one of which is a 1.4-liter turbo, currently only used in the Abarth, but could easily be used in the 500T, which would be expected to come turbocharged.

Also firming up the 500T speculations are some photos posted on fan site Fiat500USA.com, of a model they are calling the 500T. The photos show a model with a larger front end, making enough room for an intercooler, and an Abarth inspired exterior.
So while it may not be confirmed, it is likely a Fiat 500T with around 130-hp will be dropping sometime in the next year.
Refresher: The 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth is powered by a new 1.4 liter MultiAir Turbo engine that pushes up to 160-hp with a maximum torque of 170 lb-ft. Sales start early 2012. Prices start at $22,000.
