Report: Land Rover design director confirms that company will expand its lineup, make it more luxurious

According to Gerry McGovern, design director at Land Rover, the automaker plans to offer more models in its lineup. McGovern spoke at the New York Auto Show, and calls it a perfect location for the automaker to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

“Land Rover will give much greater relevance to far more people in the future. Look at the Evoque as an example; no-one had ever offered anything like that before.”

McGovern also made it clear that Land Rover plans to make its models more luxurious, and incorporate intelligent engineering with innovative design. His comments give some backing to speculations of a Range Rover Evoque XL, a 7-seater Range Rover Sport and an entry-level model based on the DC100.

“Design will be at the core of our future products, with perfect integration of designing and engineering teams. We’ll create true luxury products in the future.”
