2013 Chevrolet Traverse gets updated exterior and interior, coming to New York
Here it is – the brand new 2013 Chevrolet Traverse crossover that will debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show next week. The model will enter production later this year and builds on the model’s popularity of offering space, comfort and utility.
“The new Traverse is a family vehicle without compromise,” said Chris Perry, vice president, Chevrolet Global Marketing and Strategy. “It is more capable than many sport-utility vehicles, with as much room as a minivan and better functionality than both. The Traverse is clever, capable and confident – and there when you need it most.”
GM says that the new looks of the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse also introduce a new face for Chevrolet crossover utilities, meaning we could see this design trickle down to the Equinox as well.
“We have injected a stronger presence into the Traverse exterior by focusing on the details,” said Phillip Zak, GM director of exterior design. “The small but important changes give it a more vibrant personality that more closely reflects the lifestyles of the families who rely on the Traverse to get them through their busy lives.”
New for 2013, the Chevrolet Traverse now offers a better quality interior with soft-touch materials, contrast stitching, chrome and silver accents, ambient lighting, a new 6.5 inch color touch radio with the optional MyLink infotainment system, more comfort and color options.
Power for the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse comes from a 3.6 liter V6 engine making 288-hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. While official figures have yet to be released, Chevy says that the new 2013 Traverse offers the ‘best fuel economy ratings of any eight-passenger (FWD) utility vehicle.’ Like before the Traverse is available with all-wheel-drive. The crossover maintains its 5,200 lbs towing-capacity.
The new 2013 Chevrolet Traverse will be offered in LS, LT and LTZ models. Pricing will be announced closer to launch date.
