Auto sales seem to be growing each month and things just might get better. General Motors CEO Dan Akerson was recently interviewed by The Detroit News where he said that auto industry sales will be stronger in 2012 than the company originally predicted earlier this year.
In the interview, Akerson said that GM, especially the company’s Chevrolet brand, is having a strong sales month for March.
Earlier this year, GM predicted that 2012 auto sales in the U.S. will reach 14 million by all automakers.
“I don’t know if we’ll get to 15 (million sales),” Akerson said. “Hopefully, more than 14 (million), maybe 14.5 (million.)”
J.D. Power and Associates agrees and says that new-vehicles sales are on track to end the first quarter ‘particularly strong.’ J.D. predicts March sales coming in at 1,085,800 vehicles, the highest in more than 21.5 years.
