It’s official guys! Cadillac XTS can carry four passengers and four golf bags… at the same time

Cadillac has addressed one of the biggest purchasing factors for many shoppers of cars like the upcoming XTS sedan – carrying their friends and each one of their golf bags at the same time. That’s right, the Cadillac XTS can comfortable seat four adults and easily fit four golf bags in the trunk.

Caddy says that designers and engineers of the XTS spent a lot of time figuring out how to fill the desire for more space to accommodate for an active lifestyle.

“We used computer simulations to model golf bags, as well as other common types of goods our customers are likely to transport,” said XTS chief engineer Sheri Hickok. “That also includes cases of bottled water, luggage, groceries and more. Just as we did with the rest of the XTS, we spent a lot of time maximizing every inch of storage space.”

While most luxury sedans can carry four passengers comfortably, many lack the truck space to accommodate their golf bags. The Cadillac XTS offers almost 40 inches of rear legroom and 18 cubic feet (509 liters) of trunk space, more than the Audi A8L, BMW 7-Series, and Mercedes-Benz S-class.

“Our owners want to comfortably take four adults out for a round of golf and dinner afterwards,” said Hickok. “The challenge was to give customers what they expect in terms of interior spaciousness, comfort and luxury, but to do so without compromising exterior looks and handling dynamics.”

Refresher: Power for the 2013 Cadillac XTS comes from a 3.6 liter V6 (LFX) engine making an estimated 300-hp. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and a front or all-wheel-drive layout. The Haldex all-wheel-drive system has an electronic limited-slip differential that splits torque between the rear wheels. Along with Magnetic Ride Control, the 2013 XTS borrows the Brembo braking from Caddy’s V-Series high performance models.
