2012 Geneva: Morgan Electric Plus E Concept electrifies British brand

Morgan Motors is known for its classic design and downright brutal performance – well, we’re sad to say Moran is jumping on the electric bandwagon. The automaker unveiled its new Morgan Electric Plus E Concept today at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in bright yellow.

“We wanted to see how much fun you can have in an electric sportscar, so we have built one to help us find out,” explained Morgan operations director Steve Morris. “The Plus E combines Morgan’s traditional look with high-technology construction and a powertrain that delivers substantial torque instantly at any speed. With the manual gearbox to increase both touring range and driver involvement, it will be a fantastic car to drive.”

Power comes from a 120kW Zytek E Drive system that produces 160-hp and a maximum torque of 208 lb-ft. That allows 0 to 62 mph to come in 6 seconds with a top speed of 115 miles.

That’s right no loud bang BMW engine sound here – just a quite Morgan that has a total range of 120 miles on a full battery charge.
