2013 Ford Fiesta ST revealed, FoMoCo open to the idea of bringing it to the States

Tomorrow at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, Ford will be continuing its ST lineup with the addition of the new Ford Fiesta ST, a concept version of which debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show last year. Following a very positive reaction to the 5-door 5-door Fiesta ST at the 2011 LA Auto Show, Ford made the decision to put the car into production and I quote “remains open to the idea of introducing the high-performance small car to North America for the first time.”

“We believe Ford customers will be blown away by the new Fiesta ST, and not only by the exhilarating performance but by the styling and specification, too. This dynamic new hot-hatch is undoubtedly our best Fiesta ST to date,” said Jost Capito, Ford’s director of Global Performance Vehicles.

Developed by Ford’s Team RS, the Ford Fiesta ST received a bunch of ride and handling improvements. All the upgrades were put t test at the Nurburgring in Germany over 5,000 kilometers of driving.

Ready for the good stuff? Power for the 2013 Ford Fiesta comes from a 1.6 liter EcoBoost turbocharged 4-cylinder making 177-hp with a maximum torque of 177 lb-ft. Mated to a 6-speed manual, 0 to 62 mph comes in under 7 seconds with a top speed of 125 mph.
