Report: 2013 Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet not coming to United States… for now

Pictures and details of the 2013 Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet were revealed late last night prior to the car’s public debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. While it wasn’t confirmed at the time of release whether or not the drop-top GTI will be coming to the United States – we now have official word via Facebook.

“The first VW GTI Cabriolet will be revealed next week at the Geneva Auto Show.” Volkswagen While it won’t be making its way to the States (for now), you can enjoy a first look at the photos. What do you think?”

What do we think? We’re highly disappointed and angry – that’s what we think.

Refresher: Power for the new 2013 Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet comes from a 2.0 liter turbocharged, direct-injected 4-cylinder engine from the GTI hatchback. Output comes in at 207-hp with a maximum torque of 207 lb-ft. Mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, 0 to 62 mph for the Golf GTI Cabriolet comes in 7.3 seconds with a top speed of 147 mph (2 mph lower than the hatchback).
