With the new generation of the BMW 6-Series, the German automaker is not holding back. Following the unveiling of the BMW 650i and the new BMW 640i, BMW is now adding another variant to the Coupe and Convertible models of the new 6-Series. Say hello to the new BMW 640d xDrive Coupe and Convertible, which will go on sale in Europe this spring and will not be coming to the United States.
“The combination of a diesel engine and BMW xDrive all-wheel drive, which will also be found in the BMW 640d xDrive Convertible, gives the BMW 6 Series a spread of abilities none of its rivals can match,” BMW said in a statement.

Power comes from a 3.0 liter inline 6-cylinder diesel engine making 313-hp and 465 lb-ft of torque at 1,500 – 2,500 rpm, with maximum output generated at 4,400 rpm. Mated to BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system and an 8-speed automatic transmission, the BMW 640d xDrive can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.2 seconds (for the coupe).
Fuel-economy wise, BMW says that the 640d xDrive Coupe delivers 5.7 – 5.8 litres per 100 kilometers or around 40 mpg in U.S. terms.
