2013 Mazda CX-5 makes animated debut in The Lorax

The new Mazda CX-5 will be making its animated debut in the world and imagination of Dr. Seuess when The Lorax hits theaters on March 2. Mazda announced today that as a part of strategic partnership between itself, Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s Dr. Seuss series, the Mazda CX-5 will environmentalist tale The Lorax.

Mazda’s U.S. Design Director Derek Jenkins was able to work closely with the filmmakers to create a :30 and :45 second version of the spot, showing the new 2013 Mazda CX-5 with SkyActiv technologies traveling through the ‘Truffula Valley’ featured in the 3D film.

“The Lorax character’s view of the environment fits in exactly with Mazda and SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY, so the two were a perfect match for a commercial,” said Illumination Entertainment founder and CEO Chris Meledandri. “By staying true to who the Lorax and other Truffula Valley animals are we were able to create a fun and engaging spot.”

Refresher: Power for the 2013 Mazda CX-5 comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that puts out 155-hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. EPA rated fuel-economy comes in at 26/35 mpg (city/highway). Prices for the CX-5 start at $20,695.
