Many FoMoCo customers see Lincoln as a more expensive rebadged Ford – and we can’t blame them. However, according to Ford’s global product chief Derrick Kuzak (who will be retiring starting April 1) that will not longer be the case.
Kuzak said that FoMoCo will start selling the new 2013 Ford Fusion and the 2013 Lincoln MKZ later this year – and while both sedans will share the same underpinnings, the sharing and similarities between the two will end there. Think of the distinction in the same way you would with the Volkswagen Jetta and an Audi A4.
Even Lincoln dealerships will start differentiating themselves from Ford showrooms like Lexus is from Toyota.
We’re hoping this helps since FoMoCo, which once owned Jaguar, Land Rover and Aston Martin, only has Lincoln left as its luxury brand.
