Report: Ford says small SUVs lead in monthly sales increase

November is expected to return some good numbers for Ford Motor Co., with high expectations for U.S. sales.

Popular small sport utility vehicles sales will help Ford hit “in the mid-13-million range as an industry,” says Ford’s sales analyst, Erich Merkle. Automotive News data center cites the Ford Escape alone accounted for 206,896 units through October, up 21 percent from last year.

While Ford’s light-vehicle sales in the U.S. for October is up 6.2 percent, medium- and heavy-truck sales account for 200,000 units towards total sales. Ford’s overall market share has climbed to 16.8 percent through last month, as well.

Overall earnings through September are at $6.6 billion, and with new models being released that number should continue to grow.
