Honda AC-X

Say you purchase a plug-in hybrid but want to be a little rebellious and use only the engine to drive because you’re in a rush and you can’t slow your day down with ev driving modes. Well, Honda may have a solution for you.

Making its debut at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show today, the Honda AC-X Concept is a study of a next-generation plug-in hybrid vehicle which offers a comfort and convenience during all driving situations for long-distance and urban driving. Drivers can choose ‘engine drive mode’ for more aggressive driving or an ‘automatic drive mode’ for more relaxed driving.

Power for the Honda AC-X Plug-in Hybrid Concept comes from a 1.6 liter gasoline engine, which is mated to a 120kw electric-motor. Working together, the system makes 127-hp. On a full tank of gas and a full charge of its lithium-ion battery, the AC-X can travel a total range of 620 miles.
