Toyota Fun-Vii Concept takes personalization, connectivity to the next level

Toyota will be showing up to the Tokyo Motor Show this week with a bunch of new concepts – one being this funky looking one it calls the Fun-Vii. Toyota says that the concept “heralds a not-too-distant future where people, cars and society are linked.”

The Toyota Fun-Vii features a bunch of personalization functions with the ability to display different content on the interior and exterior. Toyota says that the personalization is as easy as downloading an application.

“For instance, the whole vehicle body can be used as a display space, with the body color and display content changeable at will,” Toyota said in a statement. “This allows the entire vehicle to function as a terminal for displaying messages or other information.”

The full interior of the vehicle can also be used as a display space. Through augmented reality, navigation information is displayed in a very interesting futuristic manner. There is also a ‘navigation concierge’ that can provide the passengers with driving information and guidance through a vocal interface.

Toyota also explores safety with the Fun-Vii concept as it is able to link up with surrounding vehicles and detect dangerous situations – such as vehicles in blind spots-in advance.

I’m pretty impressed – I’m just not sure Ray LaHood is.
