22-year-old Saudi pays a $71,000 premium to be first Lamborghini Aventador owner in the country

A litter more than a year ago, we brought you a story about a 21-year old in Saudi Arabia by the name of Dhiaa Al-Essa – a man who’s collection of supercars spans well over 30 vehicles and is worth more than $12 million

At the time, we were told that Al-Essa’s collection features four Ferraris (a 458 Italia and a 599 GTO), five Porsches, three Lamborghinis, two Rolls Royces and a Mercedes SLR McLaren. He was also on the waiting list for a Bugatti Veyron.

Al-Essa has now added a new toy to his collection. He recently cashed out nearly $461,000 for the new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4… wait. $461,000? “That’s not how much the Aventador costs anywhere in the world,” you say. Well, Al-Essa ended up paying $71,000 over the regular price to skip the 18-month waiting list, making him the first in the country with the new Aventador.

Al-Essa, who is now 22, states:

It’s amazing the Lamborghini has arrived. I wanted to be the first in Saudi Arabia to get the Aventador. Of course there is competition but for me personally it is not a competition, I just love cars – and if you want to be first you have to work hard and pay more.

What does Al-Essa do for a living? Not much really – besides being the son of a Saudi business tycoon with an estimated net worth of more than $2.4 billion.

I got ’em sayin’ – Who dat? Who dat?

Refresher: The Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 will be powered by a 6.5L V12 engine making 690-hp and 509 lb-ft of torque. Mated to the company’s new ISR (Independent Shifting Rod) 7-speed transmission, 0 to 60 mph will come in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 217 mph. The Aventador is an all-wheel-drive supercar courtesy of Lamborghini’s Haldex 4-wheel drive system. Prices for the Lamborghini Aventador start at $387,000.
