2011 LA: Volvo Concept You comes to gather stateside reaction
Volvo has just landed on American shores with their idea of a full-size luxury car. Suicide doors and two rear skylights are uncommon but appropriate for luxury concepts. Volvo has taken it a step further, peppering the car with touchscreens and monitors in place of conventional controls and instruments. The tech upgrades go deeper though, after the infrared sensors pick up your hand movements, a yet-to-be released Alpine subwoofer serves to convey low frequency sounds.
At this point, it is just a design study, a general indicator of Volvo’s aesthetic and technological ambitions. Think of it as a car with a set of iPads controlling non-drivetrain functions.
