2011 LA: 2012 Honda CR-V gets revealed and moves up market

Honda’s best selling SUV has just underwent a complete redesign for the 2012 year and it was just fully revealed today at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. Described to be more refined, quieter and much more improved in many ways, the CR-V gives off the sense that it moved up market.

In the usual tradition, the CR-V is powered by Honda’s 2.4L i-VTEC four-banger that produces 185hp and 163 lb-ft of torque and is mated to what would seem outdated in this day and age, a five-speed automatic transmission. Despite the five cogs, the CR-V is projected to achieve 23 mpg city, 31 highway, and a combined rating of 26 for the front-wheel driven model while the all-wheel model gets one less on all three ratings.

The CR-V also comes standard with Honda’s Bluetooth HandsFreeLink interface, which was previously an option on the outgoing model. Additionally, a full-color infotainment display with multi-angle rearview cameras also comes standard. And to keep up with the emphasis on driver safety and mobile communications, the 2012 Honda CR-V also features an SMS text messaging function that reads received texts over the audio system from compatible Bluetooth phones.

The 2012 CR-V will hit showrooms later this year in December with prices being announced closer to that date.
