Report: Honda CR-Z project leader confirms high-performance version

Earlier this year, Honda unveiled the CR-Z MUGEN RR Concept, a study that became known to hint at a high-performance CR-Z that would hit markets in 2012. Upsettingly enough, Honda later said that it had no plans to produce the CR-Z Mugen RR Concept.

Well, that may have changed. At a recent press event for the CR-Z in Malaysia, the model’s project leader Norio Tomobe-san said that a higher-performance CR-Z is currently under development.

No other details were provided.

The Honda CR-Z Mugen RR gets a supercharger on the 1.5-liter engine equipped with an IMA hybrid system, putting out 197-hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. 0 to 60 mph comes in at approximately 6.6 seconds.
