SEMA 2011: Retro Surf Kia Rio by Antenna caters to the beach lifestyle

The 2012 Kia Rio 5-door is currently on sale at dealerships nationwide. At the 2011 SEMA Show, Kia is building buzz around the new subcompact with the help of Antenna. The two company’s teamed up to create a specialty lifestyle vehicle called the Retro Surf Rio 5-door, which is outfitted with everything the modern-day surfer needs for a perfect day and night at the beach.

The Retro Surf Kia Rio 5-door gets authentic Grain wood surfboard mounted on the roof, a modified suspension, an aggressive exterior design with 17-inch three-piece gold wheels, a sunset-metallic golden-brown paint scheme, a custom body kit with a front splitter made of wood and a redesigned rear fascia with center-mount dual exhaust.

Inside, the front and rear seats and door panels are upholstered in brown and beige plaid boardshorts fabric, and the wood grain center console brings the classic surfboard theme inside. The rear center console has been modified into a shelf to hold sunblock and other beach and ocean accessories and it also has a dark brown suede headliner with a built-in towel rack.

It also gets a bunch of gadgets including an iCade gaming console with 80s-style arcade games on an iPadĀ®, a turntable to play vinyl records, and shelves for sandals and clothing.
