A Ferrari Enzo successor is in the works and is expected to arrive as early as next year. According to Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa, the Enzo successor will have a mid-mounted V12 and will use a carbon-fiber chassis.

Felisa said that the Enzo successor may also get hybrid technology and confirmed that the company “is testing hybrid prototypes.”

Felisa said that Ferrari has gained a lot of knowledge from the development of the brand’s Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS) in Formula One, which could become relevant to road cars. He said that the system must also focus on fuel-efficiency rather than just performance.

The next Ferrari Enzo was previously reported to be inspired by the Bugatti Veyron.
