Porsche 550: Sub-Boxster Coupe reportedly in the works

Porsche reportedly has a new sub-Boxter coupe currently in the works called Project Mimo, with a working title for the car a Porsche 550. Along with Audi’s R5 and Volkswagen’s BlueSport projects also in the planning stages, none of the three have officially begun creation.

The new Porsche model is expected to be a mid-engine model with coupe and roadster versions, although Spdyer and Speedster versions are possible. Motors will be a horizontally opposed four-cylinder, five for the Audi, and rear wheel drive will be available along with electric power steering, and manual and seven-speed dual-clutch transmissions.

Power has the potential to hit 210-hp and 215 lb-ft of torque for the 1.9-liter engine. A faster version is still on the table with a bigger flat four that is being crafted for upcoming Boxter and Caymen models.
