Report: Diesel Hybrid L-ATV could take Humvee’s place in the U.S. Army

With the Humvee on the verge of retirement from the U.S. Army, one vehicle seems to be coming out on top to replace it.

The Oshkosh Light Combat Tactical All-Terrain Vehicle or L-ATV, solves some of the most outstanding problems with the Humvee. The L-ATV has a diesel-electric hybrid powertrain, which stretched fuel economy, giving it more flexibility on missions and out in the field.

Oskosh’s model can also cut down on vulnerability in the field with body armor that can withstand improvised explosive device impact, with customization options to adapt to a variety of military needs.

A TAK-4 independent suspension gives 25% more travel than anything currently in use, as well.
