In celebration of Chevrolet’s 100 year milestone, fans were asked to vote on the “Best Chevy of All Time”, and the 1969 Camaro came out on top.
Close to 125,000 fans voted, and out of those, the 1969 Camaro earned 25,058 of them, just barely taking the lead over the 1970 Chevelle SS.
Chevrolet Design Director Tom Peters agrees, and has owned this particular model close to twenty years. “I can vividly remember seeing one for the first time as a kid. The intent of the Camaro was instantly understood, even to a 14-year old like me, because it possessed a very powerful personality and an elegant, simple design,” he recalls. “The Camaro was so cool because it offered this great style, high performance, and yet was attainable for someone just getting out of school”
Peters also feels that the Chevrolet Camaro is a prime example of a timeless design, and “Like the very best designs, the Camaro is more than just a machine because it evokes powerful emotions in people of all ages.”
