2011 Frankfurt: SsangYong XIV-1 Concept hints at future B-segment CUV
Following a couple of teasers earlier this month, SsangYong has finally taken the covers off of its new XIV-1 Concept. SsangYong says that the name XIV-1 is derived from the phrase ‘eXciting user Interface Vehicle’, which highlights the car’s focus on interaction with the driver and passengers.
The SsangYong XIV-1 Concept is a design study of a new B-segment SUV project that the Korean automaker is currently working on. SsangYong says that the model will enter mass production and also hints at the future design direction for the car maker.
SsangYong says that the key to the XIV-1 names lies inside the car.
“The user interface embraces the concept of an extended living space rather than providing just a means of transport,” Ssangyong said in a statement. “Control of many of SsangYong XIV-1 Concept functions is via the interaction of Smart mobile devices and the vehicle itself. Using the kind of devices that the driver and passengers are likely to be carrying at all times, they can control everything from the audio system, the display of information on the dashboard and online communications.”
