Lotus has always been known for its raw performance, agility, handling and lightweight construction – and that’s not about to change. After months of speculation the company today took the covers off of its new 2012 Lotus Exige S, “the ultimate lightweight high performance sportscar.”
Weight in at just 2,380-pounds and being powered by a 3.5 liter V6 supercharged engine making 346-hp, the Lotus Exige S has a staggering power to weight ratio. While keeping most of its design theme from the previous model the new Exige does get a new front splitter, a new rear spoiler and an upgraded interior.
Lotus Exige S is offered with two interior packages including Premium and Premium Sport. The Premium Pack provides added comfort and style where as the Premium Sport focuses on ultimate driver involvement.
“Anyone who has ever driven an Exige will tell you that it’s not for the faint-hearted,” said Group Lotus Chief Executive Officer Dany Bahar. “The new Exige S skips a few rungs on the ladder to give the driver the ultimate Lotus experience. Quite simply you can’t get more Lotus than the Exige S.”
The 2012 Lotus Exige S is also offered with high-perfomance Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires as standard and a Lotus DPM (Dynamic Performance Management) switch, that allows the driver to switch between three driving modes: Touring, Sport and DPM off. If that’s not enough, Lotus also offers a Race Pack option, which features Launch Control and an optimised suspension setting for track use.
