Cadillac Ciel spawns more interest in Cadillac brand, may inspire new sedan

Cadillac’s Ciel has been keeping the news desks busy as of recent and for good reason because apparently the Ciel represents the beginning of Cadillac’s new offense to combat the competition.

Cadillac at this time is currently limited to only three models: the Escalade, the CTS, and the SRX. But that’s about to change as Cadillac will be introducing the new BMW 3-Series contending ATS with a STS-replacing XTS luxury sedan on the way, said Caddy’s marketing chief Don Butler.

“We’ve got a product onslaught that’s coming. Let’s get our house ready before our guests come in,” Butler said.

Cadillac is expected to debut one of the aforementioned new sedans at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show in November with the other one following at the Detroit Motor Show in January of 2012.

Following the new sedans, Cadillac is expected to launch its new ELR extended-range electric car sometime in 2013. Rumor also has it that the brand is working on a new rear-wheel drive flagship that will go against the proverbial BMW 7-Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

But this entire buzz about the Ciel is what Cadillac needs to continue their reinvigoration, according to Butler.

“People are coming into the showroom talking about this vehicle,” Butler added. “It kind of adds to the psyche of positive feeling about the brand. Cadillac has permission to do this vehicle. It’s not something that would be out of place.”
