Study finds America’s top five fastest roads, also finds Americans are driving slower

Fast Driving

A traffic data firm by the name of INRIX has just conducted a new study: to find the five fastest roads in America. And according to their latest find, Americans are actually traveling slower than they were a few years ago.

Using data taken from GPS tracking and factoring in rising gas prices and increased traffic enforcement, INRIX found that the average speeder traveled 81 mph on America’s top 10 fastest roads, down from 85 mph last year.

As for the 2011 year, the fastest-traveled roads found for 2011 have an average top speed that’s close to the 100mph mark. These roads were to have something in common: most of them were long and open stretches that connect major urban areas to one another, many of which are in the flatter parts of the US. So without further ado, the list for America’s top five fastest roads.
