Linking brands and iconic music or movie figures to aid in collaborative marketing seems to be part of all of the buzz that producers of consumer products are working at in order to boost sales and marketing appeal. In terms of the automobile industry, Eminem hooked up with Chrysler and their “Imported from Detroit” campaign. Small British maker Lotus is planning to do the same with rapper Swizz Beatz.

“The key is to infiltrate the market in a cool way,” said Beatz, whose real name is Kasseem Daoud Dean, “they want flash.”

Lotus also released a video spot of Beatz’s new position to kick off the campaign. In the video, Lotus has Beatz arrive at Lotus’s headquarter by helicopter. Beatz is then driven in a Lotus around a racetrack and then Beatz is later shot advising Lotus’s team including CEO Dany Bahar himself.

“Like Group Lotus, he means business: He’s a risk taker with considerable credentials, including music producer, rapper, designer and painter,” said Lotus in a statement announcing the appointment. “(He’s) the perfect man to add to the Lotus lineup.”
