Ram to add 3 commercial vans by 2014, Fiat to help with two of them

Chrysler Group’s Ram truck will be moving beyond just pickup trucks to expand its sales. The company has plans to add 3 commercial vehicles to the Ram brand by 2014.

The first commercial vehicle will be a CV version of the Dodge Grand Caravan minivan that has been reworked for cargo use and rebadged as a Ram. The Ram CV is scheduled to hit markets in the third quarter of 2011 as a 2012 model. Power will come from a Pentastar V6 and will be targeted towards small businesses.

A small commercial van, based on the Fiat Doblo, will arrive in 2013 as a 2014 model. It will compete with the likes of the Ford Transit Connect.

The third commercial Ram will be a large CV, also due to appear in 2013 as a 2014 model. It will be based on either the Fiat Iveco (RWD) or the Fiat Ducato (FWD). The large Ram CV will most likely get diesel engines.
