We are all very excited to see the new 2012 Lexus GS 350, which will debut at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 18. But before the new GS sport sedan even makes its debut, new word coming out of Lexus suggest that the Japanese luxury brand is seriously considering a coupe version of the GS.
“I’d like to do a coupe,” Ben J. Mitchell, Lexus’ product planner manager, told Inside Line. “We’re really trying to increase the emotional qualities of our brand. We want to emphasize exterior styling and dynamics.” Mitchell aid that Lexus is at the moment involved in a “fairly active study of coupe opportunities.”
Mike Michels, Lexus’external communications vice president also said that the brand does want to expand its lineup.
We’re pretty sure someone inside Lexus has already put together some renderings of the GS Coupe, but we don’t expect the model to show up before spring of 2013.
