The famous Lancia Stratos was going to make a modern-day comeback after it was revived by concept in 2010. It was built using a Ferrari F430 Scuderia and much of its components, including Ferrari’s 4.3L V8 were used.
However, because of those reasons, the entire project was put on a halt. Because the new Lancia Stratos is based on a Ferrari, the project deemed the Italian supercar make to be the parts supplier and manufacturer. And despite Ferrari’s president Luca di Montezemolo approving of the car after driving it personally, Ferrari didn’t consent to the construction of the Stratos by Pininfarina.

That said, the Stratos’s revival can only happen through a parts supplier and manufacturer completely separate from Ferrari’s Pininfarina.
By quote of the boffins behind the project, “appropriate contacts are being made.” Let’s hope this gets worked out soon.
