Group of Chevrolet Impala owners files lawsuit against GM

A group of Chevrolet Impala owners have filed a lawsuit against General Motors stating that the Detroit automaker treated police better than average citizens when it came to taking care of a defective part on the 2007 and 2008 Chevrolet Impala sedan.

The lawsuit states that the 2007 and 2008 Chevrolet Impala model years have defective spindle rods, which connect the suspension to rear wheels. The issue causes the wheels to misalign making the tires wear out faster.

GM fixed the issue on the police version of the Impala three years ago, but left hundreds of thousands of private Impala owners hanging.

GM sold a total of 423,000 Impala units form the 2007 and 2008 model years. About 12,500 of those become police cars.
