Video: Fifth Gear pins Ferrari 458 Italia against McLaren MP4-12C

When we kicked off our ‘Let’s Talk Numbers‘ segment here on egmCarTech – our first battle consisted of the Ferrari 458 Italia vs. the McLaren MP4-12C. Well, it seems like Tiff Needell and Jason Plato were thinking the same thing when they launched the new season of Fifth Gear.

  • Ferrari 458 Italia: Power for the Ferrari 458 Italia comes from a mid-rear mounted 4.5L V8 producing 570-hp at 9,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 398 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm. Mated to a dual-clutch 7-speed F1 gearbox, 0 to 62 mph comes in just 3.4 seconds with a top speed of over 202 mph.
  • McLaren MP4-12C: The 2012 McLaren Mp4-12C is powered by a 3.8L twin-turbo V8 making 592-hp at 7,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 443 lb-ft between 3,000 rpm to 7,000 rpm. That allows the McLaren MP4-12C to run from 0-62 mph in 3.3 seconds with a top speed clocked in at 205 mph.
