Report: Hyundai considering conventional 4-door Veloster

The new 2012 Hyundai Veloster, which will go on sale in the United States later this year, is an interesting looking hatchback with its one long door on the driver’s side and two shorter doors on the passenger side.

According to a Hyundai executives, the Korean automaker is considering producing a 4-door version of the Veloster for global markets.

Hyundai’s Manager for the Overseas Product Planning Team Eunjoo Shin, says that the company is working on the development of a Veloster embodying a conventional 4-door hatchback.

Refresher: The 2012 Hyundai Veloster is powered by an all-new 1.6L GDI Gamma direct-injection gasoline engine making 138-hp and 123 lb-ft of torque. It can be mated to either a 6-speed manual, or Hyundai’s all new dual-clutch 6-speed automatic. Fuel-economy wise, the 2012 Veloster is expected to get up to 40 mpg. Sales start later this year.
