Mini John Cooper Works Coupe Endurance Racer ready for 24 Hour Nurburgring race

Mini John Cooper Works Coupe Endurance Racer

With the world-renowned 24-Hour Nurburgring Endurance race just around the corner, a plethora of companies are hard at work to unveil their latest and greatest machines to tackle one of the most difficult race events in the world. And MINI in conjunction with their long-time running aftermarket tuner, John Cooper Works has just unveiled their MINI John Cooper Works Coupe Endurance racer, just shortly after the world debut of the MINI Coupe itself. Man, these guys work fast.

MINI has a well-established history in motorsports and today is no different. The John Works Coupe is powered by a 1.6L four banger that’s equipped with a twin-scroll supercharger and direct injection. The results are 250-hp with an overboost function that can provide up to 243 lb-ft of torque, for a top speed of more than 150 mph.

In addition to the reworked engine, the John Cooper Works Coupe receives a stiffer racing suspension with adjustable dampers specifically designed for the Ring itself. A front spoiler, rear diffuser and adjustable rear spoiler help down force to optimize balanced handling. Stoppers are provided by Race ABS and MINI Challenge while the stability control system was also tweaked for more aggressive driving.

On the inside, a roll cage was put in with six-point harness racing buckets and a Formula 1 style HANS (Head and Neck Support) system. And to ensure that pitstops are completed in a swift and smooth manner, the John Cooper Works Coupe also comes with an integrated pneumatic jack.
