Kazunori Yamauchi to race at the 2011 Nurburgring 24 Hour Race

Kazunori Yamauchi returns to Nurburgring 24 Hour Race

Kazunori Yamauchi, the maker of Gran Turismo for PlayStation, has quietly returned to real-world racing.

Yamauchi was recently spotted at the 4-hour ADAC Reinoldus-Langstrekenrennen Nurburgring VLN race in a Nissan GT-R. As you can tell from the picture above, the GT-R used by Yamauchi is inspired from the GT500 ‘Stealth’ GT-R from Gran Turismo 5.

Yamauchi will be racing in the Nurburgring 24 Hours Race this weekend with his teammates Tobias and Michael Schulze of Autohaus Schulze and Yasuyoshi Yamamoto, founder of Japanese tuning shop Opera Performance. Yamauchi has competed in several VLN races last year at the Nurburgring in a race-prepped Lexus IS-F, with which he earned a class victory in a 4-hour event and took fourth-in-class at the 24-hour race.
