Report: Honda Beat successor to use best of company’s car, motorcycle technology

Honda OSM Concept Sketch

We’ve been hearing that Honda will revive the Beat sport roadster for quiet some time now. Reports first started showing up in late 2009 that Honda was planning on a successor to the Beat as a front engine car using the platform and 660cc engine from Honda Life.

It was later reported that Honda was would fuse the Beat and S2000 into one model as a new compact roadster.

New reports now suggest that Honda will take the best of its cars and motorcycle technology to create a front-wheel-drive, two-seater sports car as a successor to the Beat.

Power is expected to come from a 1.3 liter or 1.5 liter VTEC unit that will be mated to the company’s first dual-clutch transmission adapted from the Honda VFR1200F motorcycle.

Expect the Honda Beat to arrive sometime in late 2013.
