Mercedez-Benz has a brave driver with an ambitious goal: to break the world record for drifting a car.
The event will take place this coming weekend in at the Brooklands circut in the United Kingdom. The Surrey track is narrow on space, and it will take 12 highly precise laps to break the record. Still, Driver Mauro Carlo is certain he will successfully break the existing record. Currently, the record for sliding, or driving sideways, is 8,000 feet. Carlo intends to not only break this record, but make his a hard one to beat, aiming for a 10,000 foot slide.
The two mile mission will take about four minutes, in either an E63 or a C63 AMG sedan, at 55-mph in third gear.
