Video: Audi A6 Avant ad accused of ripping off Chrysler and Eminem

The ‘Born of Fire’ commercial from Chrysler featuring Eminem, the Chrysler 200 sedan and the ‘Imported from Detroit’ tagline has already become known as one of the most amazing automotive commercials of all time.

Audi has now released a new commercial in Germany for the new 2012 Audi A6 Avant, that clearly bares a close resemblance to the ‘Born of Fire’ commercial featuring Eminem and an orchestra interpretation of his “Lose Yourself” song.

According to Eight Mile Style, the company that handles song licensing for Eminem, the Audi ad uses an unauthorized interpretation of “Lose Yourself.” The company has filed a motion in German court this week to quash the Audi ad.

Chrysler is not a part of the suit, but Auburn Hills officials are aware of the ad.

“Apparently someone believes that the definition of copyright laws is the right to copy others’ materials,” said Gualberto Ranieri, a Chrysler Group spokesperson.
