Mercedes-Benz and its iconic Sliver Arrow has been a buy-word for outrageous luxury and meticulous build quality and attention to detail. So its not wonder that an S-Class, Maybach or decked out Sprinter Van are the first to come to mind when you think luxury. But if you want to take your luxury to the sky, here’s how you can.
Mercedes-Benz’s Advanced Design Studio hooked up with Eurocopter to produce a special edition luxury Benz model. It was revealed at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibit in Geneva.
“We are very pleased to have realized the first product of ‘Mercedes-Benz Style’ with Eurocopter,” said Prof. h.c. Dr. Gorden Wagener, head of design at Mercedes-Benz. “The interior design of the EC145 ‘Mercedes-Benz Style’ helicopter represents the classic passion of the Mercedes-Benz design language and fulfils the very highest expectations in terms of elegance, luxury and comfort.”
What originally starts off as a Eurocopter EC145, which actually is the model of choice for medevac teams and other applications other than luxury transport, is then touched up with many luxurious appointments such as cool ambient lighting, leather bucket seating with four-point harnesses and rare wood trim. The cabin was also rearranged for a layout that favors easy egress and digress with seats that can be adjusted or removed to seat up to eight passengers plus some cargo.
The Mercedes-Benz Eurocopter EC145 is one of many new design projects being headed by their design division and we can expect to see a number of licensed designs for other applications as well in the future.
